(CN) - Employment continued its economically calamitous decline with unemployment rising from 6.8 to 7.2 percent, according to Burea of Labor statistics released this morning. Payroll employment fell by 524,000 over the month of December and by 1.9 million over the last 4 months of 2008. "Job losses in December were large," said the bureau's release, "and widespread across most major industry sectors."
