The Cato Corp. doesn't get it, a former employee says. She says that after subjecting her to a litany of racist comments about black people, her manager said, "Don't take it the wrong way, you're not like most blacks." She was suspended without pay for complaining, and effectively fired, she says in Nashville Federal Court.

Class-action complaints alleging Labor Code violations have been filed against these defendants: California Special Cutting Co., Sandberg Furniture Manufacturing, and Tam's Bar & Grill, in Los Angeles Superior Court; Olan Mills Inc., in San Francisco Federal Court; Windjammers Air Charter Screening, in Alameda County Court, Oakland; Connect Television, in Stanislaus County Court, Calif.; Ritz Community Health Care and Meapris Community Mental Health Corp., in Miami Federal Court; Allan Benjamin Mortgage Services, in Columbus, Ohio, Federal Court; Lake Tyler Condominium Association, in Orlando Federal Court; JetDirect Aviation, and State Street Bank & Trust, in ERISA complaints in Boston Federal Court; the City of Albuquerque, in Bernalillo County Court; Hilti of America, in a sex discrimination claim in Tulsa Federal Court; Peachtree Service Experts and Lennox International, in Atlanta Federal Court; and TFE Logistics Group, in Boone County Court, Ky.
