Economic espionage

ST. LOUIS — The Eighth Circuit upheld the sentencing of a Chinese citizen who pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit economic espionage. The security team that had searched his electronic devices had reasonable suspicion to do so and did not need a warrant because they found that he posed as a university student while working as a senior research application engineer so that he could send confidential trade secrets from his company to his email account.
