PHOENIX (CN) - A father accused of running over his 20-year-old daughter and her friend because they weren't living in accord with his Iraqi values has been arrested in Atlanta and returned to Phoenix. After the assault, Faleh Hassan Almaleki allegedly fled Peoria, a Phoenix suburb, to Mexico and boarded a flight to London, only to be placed in custody by the U.S. Marshals and returned the United States.
Almaleki allegedly used his Jeep Laredo to run over his daughter, Noor Faleh Almaleki, and her boyfriend's mother, Amal Edan Khalaf, in the parking lot of the Department of Economic Security in Peoria on Oct. 20.
Peoria Police said the assault broke Khalaf's pelvis and femur, and left Noor Almaleki with "a life-threatening head injury" and multiple abrasions and fractures. She is unresponsive and on a ventilator, police said.
Faleh Almaleki allegedly had threatened that "something bad would happen" because his daughter had moved in with Khalaf and her son, Noor Almaleki's boyfriend.
Faleh Almaleki is charged with two counts of felony aggravated assault.
