Covid closures and insurance

SAN FRANCISCO — The California Supreme Court ruled, in response to a question certified by the Ninth Circuit, that businesses may not claim Covid-19 closures as direct physical loss or damage to property under commercial general liability policies. Closures are not demonstrable, physical alterations that injure or impair property.
