Court OK’s Permits For Seattle Street Performers

SAN FRANCISCO (CN) – The 9th Circuit upheld a Seattle ordinance requiring street performers to get a $5 permit and badge. Michael Berger, or “Magic Mike,” claimed the requirement violated his First Amendment right to perform tricks, make balloon animals and “talk to his audience about his personal beliefs, especially the importance of reading books,” outside the Seattle Center.
