SEATTLE (CN) – Skype, the Internet videophone service, illegally takes money from what it calls “inactive” customer accounts, a class action claims in Federal Court. Skype says customers’ credit balances are “lost” if they don’t use the money within 180 days, but the company just takes the money, the class claims.
This violates the Gift Cards and Consumer Protection Statutes, according to the complaint.
Ebay, Skype’s parent company, is also named as a defendant.
The class wants its money back and wants Skype enjoined from doing it again.
They are represented by Roger Townsend with Breskin Johnson & Townsend.
