Charter Fishermen Fight Halibut Limits

WASHINGTON (CN) – A group of charter fishermen wants the Federal to review the National Marine Fisheries Service’s final rule that limits the harvest of Pacific halibut to one a day by guided charter boats in Southeast Alaska.

This is the second year in a row that the NMFS passed the rule that charter fishermen say violates the Northern Pacific Halibut Act of 1982.
The group, which won an injunction stopping last year’s rule from being enforced, claims their businesses will suffer if the rule is enforced. They seek another injunction. They are represented by John Butler with Sher Blackwell.
