Busted by Boomerang

BROOKLYN, N.Y. — A social media application called Phhhoto accuses Meta, the new corporate name for Facebook, of cloning Phhhoto's groundbreaking technology and using Facebook's algorithm to drive it out of business. Phhhoto says the popular Boomerang app on Instagram, which Facebook owns, is a "slavish clone" of its burst-image tech.

Read the federal complaint, which includes Phhhoto user photos of Mark Zuckerberg and other Facebook employees, in addition to name-dropping celebrity-set early adopters, including Beyonce, Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus, Joe Jonas and Crissy Teigen.
