WASHINGTON (CN) - The Federal Circuit affirmed dismissal of a lawsuit accusing Alliance Gaming Corp. of infringing on a system that detects counterfeit money and gambling chips used in slot machines.
CIAS Inc. claimed Alliance and its subsidiary, Bally Gaming, used a system to detect phony betting tickets used in ticket-in-ticket-out slot machines. Alliance claimed technology that detects counterfeit objects by comparing markings is not new. The circuit upheld summary judgment for Alliance, ruling that prior art and prosecution history limited the scope of CIAS' patents. See ruling inCIAS v. Alliance Gaming Corp.
