Alaskan fish farm to pay following hazardous waste explosion

ANCHORAGE — A federal judge in Alaska sentenced a nonprofit hatchery to pay $1 million in restitution and fines for ordering an employee to illegally set hundreds of gallons of hazardous waste on fire, which caused an explosion that injured the worker. The organization will have to follow an environmental compliance plan and be audited by a third party as part of its probation.
