AG Holder Names Chiefs at Department of Justice

WASHINGTON (CN) - Attorney General Eric Holder announced appointments Wednesday to the head of three units of the Justice Department, including a George Washington University law professor who will head the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

From within the Justice Department, Holder appointed Marshall Jarrett to head the Executive Office for United States Attorneys where he will oversee the 94 U.S. attorneys around the nation.

He also appointed Mary Patrice Brown, also from within the Justice Department, to head the Office of Professional Responsibility.

Kenneth E. Melson who will be in charge of the ATF taught law and forensic science a George Washington University for almost 30 years. He received his B.A. from Denison University in 1970, and his J.D. from George Washington University in 1973.

Jarrett who will head the U.S. attorneys had been Counsel for the Office of Professional Responsibility since 1998 and before that he was the Deputy Chief of the Public Integrity Section. He earned a B.S. in 1966 from West Virginia University and his J.D. in 1969 from West Virginia University College of Law

Brown will now head the Office of Professional Responsibility which investigates allegations of professional misconduct involving attorney of the Department of Justice.

She earned her B.S. in Foreign Service in 1978 from Georgetown University and graduated from there with her J.D. in 1984. She investigated allegations against police officers, attorneys, and public officials as the Deputy Chief of the Fraud and Public Corruption Section between 2002 and 2004 and later became the Chief of the U.S. Attorney's Office Criminal Division in 2007.
