Bond hearings

BOSTON — Noncitizen detainees held for six months are not automatically entitled to a hearing before an immigration judge that could lead to their release on bond, the First Circuit affirmed.

In addition, the court vacated the declaratory and injunctive relief granted to the class members in the case by a district court, which established rules for how individual detainees could pursue their release, finding the court lacked the jurisdiction to turn its “guidance into binding equitable relief.”
