MANHATTAN — Two founding members of the post-punk rock band Le Tigre want a federal judge to shield them from copyright claims over their most popular song, “Deceptacon.”
This past July, Kathleen Hanna and Johanna Fateman received a cease-and-desist letter from Barry Mann, whose 1961 doo-wop style novelty song “Who Put the Bomp (in the Bomp, Bomp, Bomp)" is "turned upside down" in the 1999 punk-pop feminist anthem.
