HARARE, Zimbabwe — Unable to bring a collective action with all civil servants in Zimbabwe, two unions said Thursday that 100,000 teachers will strike for better salaries starting on Feb. 5.
Zimbabwe's public education sector was once one of the best in Africa but the economy has collapsed in recent years, according to Associated Press reports. The average public school teacher's salary is $100, using black market exchange rates relied on by most businesses.
