WASHINGTON (CN) - The endangered Humpback and North Atlantic right whales are among 19 protected marine mammals the U.S. Navy may be allowed to harm incidental to bombing and small arms practice in the Gulf of Mexico.
The National Marine Fisheries Service will allow the navy to request to perform actions that may harass these mammals, which are covered under the Marine Mammal Protection Act.
