LOS ANGELES (CN) - Geena Davis has sued Joseph Kelly, Nancy Gruver and Dads & Daughters in Superior Court, claiming they have falsely claimed ownership of her "See Jane" advocacy and research project on depiction of gender in children's media.
Davis says she has raised $750,000 since she conceived of the charitable organization in 2004, and paid for research that found "a surprising lack of research or resources in this important area of social scholarship." She claims she disclosed her ideas to the defendants, all of Duluth, Minn., in hopes their foundation might help. She claims that in July the defendants described "Davis' work in Los Angeles as being a 'hub' of their operations through Dads & Daughters. ... (T)heir true motivation became clear.
