RIVERSIDE, CALIF. (CN) - After a disabled woman suffered complications from spinal surgery that required month-long hospitalization, Loma Linda University Medical Center stuck her in a cab and "dumped" her at Apple Valley Convalescent Home, without notice to or permission from her family, Deborah Jones claims in Superior Court. Jones claims it took her three days to find her mother.
She claims her mother,Jennifer Jones, suffered a heart attack and died because of this cavalier treatment. She demands punitive damages for wrongful death, elder abuse and negligence. She also sues three other health-care institutions to which her mother was transferred after she found her - Mt. Rubidoux Convalescent Home, Riverside Community Hospital, and Park Anaheim Health Care Center - claiming she receive "sub-par" care at all of them, and the doctor who treated her at Loma Linda: Dr. Alex Zouros. She is represented by Thomas Girardi of Los Angeles. See complaint.
