DALLAS (CN) - Smithfield Foods, makers of Armour and Butterball meats, applied for an infringing trademark, "Deli for the Cure," after the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, which owns the "Race for the Cure" mark, rejected Smithfield's request for a joint program using the phrase, because red meat can promote cancer, Komen claims in a trademark complaint Federal Court.
