LOS ANGELES (CN) - A California appeals court has affirmed the 10-year renewal of a $33.5 million civil judgment against O.J. Simpson over the 1994 murders of Ron Goldman and Nicole Brown Simpson.
The court rejected Simpson's argument that the Los Angeles Superior Court, which entered the renewal order, no longer has jurisdiction over him because he has moved to Florida.
In 1997 a civil jury found Simpson liable in a wrongful-death lawsuit filed by the victims' relatives, even though the former football star was acquitted of the murder charges in 1995.
Goldman's father, Fred Goldman, sought renewal of the judgment in October 2006 after Simpson refused to pay the judgment, the Associated Press reports.
The judgment would have expired in March and has grown to almost $40 million with interest.
