MANHATTAN - Gov. Eliot Spitzer resigned today, effective Monday, two days after he was revealed to have been a client of a high-priced prostitution ring, the Emperors Club VIP. It is unclear what legal problems, if any, Spitzer will face as a result of his spending as "Client 9," which was revealed by federal wiretaps. The four people who allegedly ran the ring, which booked clients and accepted payment on the Internet, face federal charges of prostitution and money laundering.
