ORLANDO (CN) - Without her permission and without paying her a dime, Daytona Beach Community College used a student's photo in ads in newspapers and on the sides of public buses, and attributed to her a statement she never made: "DBCC offers me a college education at a price I can afford," Julie Harrington claims in Federal Court.
Harrington claims that in addition to misappropriating her likeness and violating her civil rights, the ads defamed and humiliated her by their false and malicious inferences about her financial standing.
She is represented by Jason Harr of Daytona Beach.
