HOUSTON (CN) - Harris County Sheriff Tommy Thomas has a "super secret squad" that unconstitutionally spies on citizens who file civil rights charges against him, four people claim in Federal Court. They claim Harris County "has admitted publicly they have a practice of employing its law enforcement officers to spy upon the Sheriff and the County or have filed civil rights complaints."
The complaint continues: "County Attorney Michael Stafford was involved in spying incidents which he has admitted were done at his direction."
They claim the sheriff and his deputies also harass citizens and destroy their property illegally "to harass and intimidate citizens who file civil rights complaints."
Plaintiffs are represented by Lloyd Kelley.
