TOPEKA (CN) - A Utah company stiffed a state contractor for $55,300 to buy a database of vehicles recalled for safety defects, then sold the information illegally to third parties, Kansas claims in Federal Court. Kansas sued The Recall Center and Keith Hayes, of Spanish Fork, Utah.
The state says Hayes violated the privacy of thousands of Kansas citizens and illegally sold their personal information. It demands statutory damages of $500 per violation.
