LOS ANGELES (CN) - A Best Buy employee claims the store solicited stories from people who suffered from a particular life-threatening illness, and promised to keep the tales confidential. But she says Best Buy and Virgin Mobile used her story without permission in store promotions nationwide, including her first name, last initial and the store where she worked.
Karen S. does not identify the disease from which she suffers in her complaint in Superior Court. She demands punitive damages for intrusion, emotional distress, fraud, misappropriation of likeness, unfair business practices and negligent misrepresentation. She is represented by George Moschopoulos of Costa Mesa.
