WASHINGTON (CN) - Meat packers with 25 or fewer employees soon may be able to ship meat in interstate commerce.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture has proposed regulations for instituting a 2008 statute that lets states participate in a program which allows state inspection officials trained in federal meat standards to certify the meat and poultry as federally inspected, so it can cross state lines.
