(CN) - The father of Houston Texans' Jadeveon Clowney, the number one pick in the 2014 NFL draft, has been charged with attempted murder after allegedly firing shots outside a Rock Hill, South Carolina strip club.
David Morgan, who goes by the name "Chilli Bean," is accused of firing several shots at an employee of the Crazy Horse Showclub after Morgan was removed from the club for sitting on the stage.
According to the Rock Hill Police Department, the incident occurred shortly after 2 a.m. Tuesday morning, and the employee, who has not been identified, returned fire, hitting Morgan in the shoulder.
The authorities say they located Morgan at the Piedmont Medical Center and charged him with both attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.
Morgan's son, is currently on the Houston Texans' inactive list. He was star player at both the University of South Carolina, and at South Pointe High School in Rock Hill. Morgan missed most of those came, however, having spent several years in prison on charges ranging from trespassing to assault and battery to burglary.
If he is ultimately convicted on the attempted murder charge, Morgan could face up to 30 years in prison. He could also face up to five years in prison on the weapons charge.
