DENVER (CN) — A Colorado judge is expected to decide Wednesday whether Planned Parenthood killer Robert Dear Jr. is mentally competent to stand trial.
Dear was arrested on Nov. 27, 2015, and charged with killing three people and wounding nine in a shooting rampage at a Planned Parenthood office in Colorado Springs.
If El Paso County Chief District Judge Gilbert Martinez decides he is not competent to stand trial, he will be sent to a mental health hospital in Pueblo.
Dear is charged with 179 criminal counts, including murder, attempted murder and assault.
Two forensic psychologists who have evaluated Dear testified in April that he has a delusional disorder. Among other things, they said, he told them that he believes President Obama is the Antichrist and that his girlfriend and his public defendants are in cahoots with the government.
Psychologist B. Thomas Gray testified in court Tuesday that Dear cannot work with his attorneys due to those delusions.
Dear frequently interrupted Gray's testimony, yelling: "You're going to unlawfully put me in the nut house or unlawfully drug me up."
When Judge Martinez asked if he was finished, Dear replied: "Unless I hear more lies."
The North Carolina native frequently interrupts his court hearings, shouting anti-abortion sentiments and that the government is trying to control him. He has called himself a "warrior for the babies," and told police after he was arrested that he would be greeted "by all the aborted fetuses at the gates of heaven," when he died.
He has yet to enter a plea.
