MANHATTAN (CN) - Smartix International demands $45 million from Mastercard International, MBNA America Bank and Smartix's ex-employee Eric Petrosinelli, in a dispute over a "SmartFan" business deal with Major League Baseball, the NBA, NFL and NHL.
Smartix alleges misappropriation of trade secrets, unfair competition and conversion.
It claims that while it was negotiating with Mastercard for exclusive licensing of its "SmartFan" business plan and accompanying technology, Mastercard entered into a secret agreement with Petrosinelli to steal SmartFan and defraud Smartix of confidential information.
Smartix is represented by Neal Brickman in New York County Court.
