40 Years for Child Sex Crimes

SAN DIEGO (CN) - Former Navy officer Brandon W. Schroth was sentenced Tuesday to 40 years in federal prison for 12 felony counts of sexual exploitation of a child and aggravated sexual abuse of a child younger than 12, the U.S. attorney said.

Schroth, 40, pleaded guilty in November 2012. He also was ordered to pay $144,435 in restitution, to be used for counseling and therapy.

Schroth, of San Diego, has been in jail since he was arrested in March 2012.
