Professor Lisa Lucero looks at lessons we can learn to manage water systems in the future by examining Maya techniques in her paper "Ancient Maya Reservoirs, Constructed Wetlands, and Future Water Needs.” In the paper, Lucero suggests that the ancient Mayan reservoirs naturally purified water while supporting agriculture for over 1,000 years.
