Mexican free-tailed bats hang under Campbell bridge

About 10,000 Mexican free-tailed bats migrate to the Campbell Bridge in Tucson, Arizona, to rear their young before traveling back to Mexico and Central America. The flying mammals eat their weight in insects each night, providing billion of dollars worth of free pest control across the nation. (Joe Duhownik/Courthouse News)

Several bats with pink bodies and closed eyes cluster tightly together inside a narrow crack in a weathered concrete surface.
