Zimmerman Out on Bond, Cannot Have a Gun

SANFORD, Fla. (CN) - Trayvon Martin's killer George Zimmerman was released from jail for domestic violence charges Tuesday on $9,000 bond, ordered to wear a GPS monitoring device and not to have a gun.

Zimmerman's girlfriend Samantha Scheibe called 911 at about 1 p.m. Monday, saying Zimmerman had pushed her out of her home, barricaded the door with furniture and pointed a gun at her. Scheibe lives in Apopka, northwest of Orlando.

Zimmerman, 30, was charged with domestic violence, aggravated assault with a weapon, battery and criminal mischief.

At Zimmerman's court hearing Tuesday, Seminole County Judge Fred Schott said police had probable cause to arrest Zimmerman and ordered him to stay away from Scheibe and her home.

Scheibe told the judge she fears for her safety.

Prosecutors said Zimmerman had mentioned suicide in the past and that Scheibe told them of a choking incident a week ago that she did not report.

Judge Schott said he will not consider other incidents involving Zimmerman.

Zimmerman was represented by Public Defender Jeff Dowdy, after he was found indigent , and more than $2.5 million in debt.

This is Zimmerman's second arrest since he was acquitted in July of killing Trayvon Martin.

In September, his estranged wife Shellie called police to her parents' home, claiming Zimmerman was causing a disturbance and had broken her iPad.

No charges were filed in that case.

Zimmerman's next court date is set for Jan. 7, 2014 at 1:30 p.m.
