(CN) - A federal judge in Wyoming refused to reconsider his nationwide order blocking a 2001 "roadless rule," which banned road construction and logging in more than 58 million acres of national forest.
U.S. District Judge Clarence Brimmer in Cheyenne, Wyo., rejected the government's request to revisit his 102-page order declaring the Clinton-era rule invalid in all states but Idaho, one of two states with its own roadless rules.
Colorado, the other state, is still working with the Forest Service to hone the language of its roadless plan.
The 2001 Roadless Area Conservation Rule bans road building and logging in 58.5 million acres of national forest in 39 states, mostly in the West.
