Wrestler Sued Over ‘Real’ On-Camera Outburst

(CN) - Wrestling star The Big Show has won countless matches and some championships but is embroiled in litigation with a man who claims the "Giant" hit him backstage.

Andrew Green filed two complaints this week against Paul "The Big Show" Wight Jr. and World Wrestling Entertainment Inc. in Connecticut. Though Green had originally filed the case nearly two years ago in Arizona, the action he filed Wednesday in Bridgeport Superior Court notes that Wight agreed to personal jurisdiction in Bridgeport pursuant to the dismissal of the earlier case. Green apparently misfiled the same action Monday in Stamford.

At time of the incident, during the 2013 Royal Rumble pay-per-view in Phoenix, Ariz., Green says he worked for WWE as a "road producer for digital production."

Wight had allegedly just finished a match against Alberto Del Rio and was supposed to be interviewed by Green, according to the complaint.

Green says Wight initially refused to do the interview and swore at him then told Green to start filming.

At that point, according to the complaint, Wight grabbed Green by the collar and throat, hit him in the face and backed him against an equipment trunk.

"You son of a bitch ... are you having fun right now ... Don't ever come up to me again ... I don't give a shit who you are," Wight said, according to the complaint.

Green claimed that Wight caused him facial injuries, depression, anxiety and post-traumatic stress.

In his emotional-distress claim against WWE, Green said that a "subdued" Wight returned to shoot two more versions of the interview.

The WWE nevertheless rejected the latter two versions and aired the attack on its website, drawing over 100,000 page views, according to the complaint.

Green also said Wight tried to contact him over the following two days, causing him to be "uncomfortable and frightened" and leading to his departure from WWE.

Stamford, Conn.-based attorney Edward Kanowitz represents Green, who is seeking punitive damages for assault and infliction of emotional distress.

Wight debuted in 1995 with World Championship Wrestling as The Giant. WCW implied that he was the son of Andre the Giant. He jumped to WWE in 1999 by emerging through the ring canvas to attack Steve Austin on behalf of Vince McMahon.

As The Big Show, Wight has battled John Cena, The Undertaker, Brock Lesnar and countless other wrestlers. He has also fought in special-attraction matches at WrestleMania against boxer Floyd Mayweather and sumo wrestler Akebono.

Wight has also appeared in several movies, including "The Waterboy" and "Knucklehead."
