LOS ANGELES (CN) - A bartender at a party thrown by Jamie Foxx says he had to abandon his plans to become a brain surgeon after slipping on a "decorative ice bar" and slicing his hand on a shard of glass at the actor's party.
In his Superior Court claim, William Presler says Foxx set up a dangerous ice sculpture to be used as a bar. Presler says he has a bachelor's in neuroscience and was attending a "medical externship" while he worked as a bartender.
Presler says representatives from Belvedere Vodka and China Grill restaurant argued with Foxx's employees over whether the sculpture was safe enough to work around.
Presler says he slipped on ice that had overflowed from the bar. When he fell, a shard of glass sliced "halfway through his left hand," severing three nerves and requiring 170 stitches, according to the complaint.
Presler, says he had to give up his plans to go to medical school and study brain surgery. He demands punitive damages for negligence. Named as defendants are China Grill Management, Social Hollywood, Belvedere Vodka, La Ice Art, Foxxhole Productions, and Jamie Foxx.
Presler is represented by Bradley Jewett.
