CLAYTON, Mo. (CN) - An employee's schizophrenia should void a conditional reinstatement of an employment agreement with Chrysler, the worker's father claims in St. Louis County Court.
Joseph M. Price sued on behalf of his son, Joseph L. Price, who has schizoaffective disorder. The younger Price worked for Chrysler from 1995 until May 18, 2007 when he was fired for failure to report his absence from work, the complaint states.
On Oct. 15, 2008 the younger Price signed an agreement for conditional reinstatement, agreeing to waive back pay and benefits for the time he was away from the plant.
The Prices claim that his disorder made him unable to comprehend what he was signing and that he was not given the opportunity to bargain with Chrysler on terms of his reinstatement. The Prices demand the back pay and benefits he signed away. They are represented by Chris Elster.
