Women Say Vicious Prank Terrorized Them

HARTFORD (CN) - Two women say a co-worker stole information from worksite computers and used it to sign them up in a "sex and swinger" website, which refused to remove their names and bogus "profiles" for 8 months after they complained. They sued the man and the website, claiming they were bombarded at their homes with phone calls at all hours from men looking for sex.

The women sued Joseph DeJoseph, a co-worker at Pratt & Whitney, and Various Inc. dba Adult Friend Finders, which calls itself the "world's largest Sex & Swinger" website.

The women say the privacy invasion and intentional infliction of emotional distress terrorized them for 8 months.

The women say DeJoseph listed them on the website as "bisexual, promiscuous, and willing to have or schedule sexual encounters." He even posed as them in website's chat rooms, handed out their locations and phone numbers and set up meetings for sex, according to the complaint in Superior Court.

The women say they were bombarded with phone calls and text messages at all hours of the day and night from men looking for sex, phone sex, and group sex. They were sent "offensive and harassing" text messages that included "pictures of the male sexual anatomy."

They were so terrorized that they became afraid to leave their homes, and suffered "difficulty relaxing at home for fear of people coming to their houses looking for sex." When they complained to Various that someone had stolen their identities to create an account on its site, they say, the company left their profiles posted on the site for 8 months, while it claimed to be investigating.

"A simple check into the payer of said fraudulent account would have revealed non-matching names on the account in relation to the credit card used to pay for said account, would have revealed differences in addresses from said credit card and account name or profile name, as well as different I.P. addresses for said account and payer of said account," the complaint states. The women say Various' negligence subjected them to an additional 8 months of hell.
