Woman Sues Landlord Who Filmed Her Nude

RICHMOND, Va. (CN) - A woman whose intimate relationship with an ex-boyfriend was secretly filmed by the man's landlord is suing the now- incarcerated video maker for $2.4 million.

In a complaint filed in the Richmond City Circuit Court, Carmen Duval says she became involved in a romantic relationship with non-party Ryan Frizzell in late 2013.

At the time, and in the weeks that followed, Frizzell was renting a house in Richmond, Va. from Tomas Arnaiz. Unbeknownst to either Frizzell or Duval, Arnaiz installed a camera inside a clock radio, then took advantage of his position as landlord to enter the house while they were out and set the device next to their bed.

"The defendant used the hidden camera to improperly and unlawfully view and record the plaintiff and Mr. Frizzell in various stages of undress and engaged in intimate relations," the complaint says.

Duval says not only did Arnaiz view the videos himself, but also distributed them to others.

The filming came to an end in early 2014, after Frizzell discovered the camera inside the radio.

Arnaiz pleaded guilty in March to producing child pornography and of illegally filings others without their consent. He is currently serving a four-year sentence at Powhatan Correctional Center, in State Farm, Va.

Duval says the invasion of her privacy has left her traumatized, unable to earn a living, and in need of medical care.

She seeks $2 million in compensatory damages and $450,000 in punitive damages.
