Woman Says College Dean Defamed Her in Mass Email

ST. JOSEPH, Mich. (CN) - A student at Andrews University who got pregnant by another student claims the college dean called her a "slut" and a "bad spiritual influence," filed a false police report about her consensual relationship, and sent a mass email about her sexual relationship to all her fellow students, defaming her and ruining her life.

Andrews University describes itself on its Web page as the "flagship" college of the Seventh-day Adventists.

The plaintiff, who is older than 40, says the dean disapproved of her relationship with a college senior because of the age difference. She says the dean filed a false police report accusing her of sexually harassing her boyfriend, expelled him because of their consensual relationship, and prohibited her from communicating with him = even to tell him she was pregnant.

She claims "the University, through its attorney, sent out a mass email to all of the students (400+ emails) of Andrews University, admitting that its action of expulsion of student K was due to his relationship with the plaintiff."

As a result of the stress, she lost the baby, she says.

She demands punitive damages for defamation, distress, filing of a false police report, and negligence. She is represented in Berrien County Court by Rebecca Sanford.
