Woman Says Bar Manager Assaulted Her|And Spit Tip of Her Nose Across a Room

BALTIMORE (CN) - The manager of a Baltimore tavern beat and sexually assaulted a woman he had offered $40 to clean the bar, held her hostage, bit off the tip of her nose and spit it across the room, she claims in City Court.

In a 26-count civil complaint, the woman claims that Charles Scott, manager of the Franklintown Inn tavern, asked her to clean the tavern for $40. When she arrived, she says, he pulled her into the tavern and locked the door, forced her to the ground, punched her in the face and banged her head against the floor.

She says Scott bit off the tip of her nose and spit it across the room, threatened to kill her and choked her until she almost passed out. She says he held her captive for hours, forced her to drink alcohol and take illegal drugs, and sexually assaulted her.

Scott also faces six criminal charges.

In her civil complaint, the woman also sued tavern owners Teresa Scott and Donna O'Brien. She claims knew Scott was violent, used illegal drugs and had been convicted of battery, destroying property, and possessing and selling illegal drugs, but still let him run the place.

The police report varies slightly from the civil complaint. It states that the woman was cleaning when she and Scott argued, and she left the tavern. Scott called her and asked her to come back so he could apologize and she could finish cleaning. She did, and Scott assaulted her when she returned, according to the police report.

According to the police report, the woman asked Scott to drive her to the hospital after he assaulted her and held her hostage - and he did. After she contacted the police and they investigated, Scott allegedly claimed he did not remember assaulting her.

The arresting officer wrote that the woman had bruises on the right side of her face, minor bruises around her neck and a cut on the bridge of her nose. He noted that a small chunk of skin was missing from the tip of her nose.

A criminal trial is pending.

In her civil complaint, the woman is represented by Ronald Klemkowski.
