Woman Faces Years in Jail for Sex Trafficking

(CN) - A Missouri woman accused of torturing and pimping out a mentally disabled woman pleaded guilty to a federal sex-trafficking charge. Waquita "Goddess" Wallace, 33, beat, burned, tortured and humiliated the woman, known as Jane Doe, court papers state.

Prosecutors say Wallace forced Doe into prostitution to pay off a debt Doe's cousin owed her. Wallace faces 15 years to life in prison and up to $250,000 in fines at her July 7 sentencing.

Two other people involved in the tortured pleaded guilty to their roles last September. Wallace's sister April Wallace, 28, pleaded guilty to one felony count of conspiracy to commit sex trafficking by force, fraud or coercion. She admitted picking up Doe from Doe's cousin's house, knew that Doe was being beaten and forced into prostitution and admitted to helping tie Doe up in Waquita Wallace's garage. April Wallace faces up to 5 years in prison.

Richard Marquis Harper, 21, pleaded guilty to misprision of a felony, meaning he knew about a felony and concealed it by giving false information to police. Harper admitted he knew that the Wallace sisters were physically abusing Doe and forcing her into prostitution, and that he had consensual sex with Doe and concealed the crime from police. He faces up to 3 years in prison.
