LAS VEGAS (CN) - A hospital patient awoke to find herself covered with ants, "biting (her) scalp, face, mouth, ears, shoulders, neck, chest, legs and genitalia and ... going inside her," she claims in court.
Mar'Jean Egenlon sued Healthsouth Rehabilitation Hospital of Las Vegas, in Clark County Court.
Egenlon claims the trouble started on July 4, but nurses and staff did nothing in response to her complaints about an ant infestation in her bathroom.
Two days later, she says: "On July 6, 2013, plaintiff awoke at approximately 5:00 a.m. due to a headache. When plaintiff grabbed her head, she discovered her bed and body were covered with ants. The ants were biting plaintiff's scalp, face, mouth, ears, shoulders, neck, chest, legs and genitalia and were going inside her."
Egenlon claims she screamed for help, but there was no "immediate response to her screams."
Now she suffers from boils, welts and infections on her scalp, face and body, she says in the complaint. She claims she will have to put ointment on her face for the rest of her life and was transferred to another hospital to be treated for the ant attack.
She seeks damages for negligence, emotional distress and vicarious liability.
