LAS VEGAS (CN) - A woman who checked into a hospital to be treated for a "lingering virus" claims the hospital tied her to a bed, took her clothes away and won't let her leave.
Christine Frisancho sued Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center and its director of risk support services, Lucille Compton, in Clark County Court.
Frisancho does not specify what "lingering virus" led her to check herself into Sunrise Hospital on Oct. 16. But she says she not now nor ever has been mentally ill, but "is competent and has never been adjudicated otherwise."
Nonetheless, she says, when she asked to released, hospital workers tied her wrists to the bed, removed her clothes from her room and refused to allow her to leave the hospital.
She also claims she "has been offensively touched and has had medical treatments forced upon her" in the hospital.
Her attorney says that if Frisancho is being held legally, the "fact cannot be discerned because both Christine and her attorney have been deprived of access to Christine's medical records," and the hospital has not filed any papers to justify her detention, as required by state law, "therefore, Christine's continued confinement at the hospital is illegal."
She seeks damages for false imprisonment and battery - and she wants the hospital to let her go. She is represented by Robert Kossack.
