Woman Claims Ex-NBA Player Raped Her

PHOENIX (CN) - Former Phoenix Suns player Michael Beasley choked a woman until she was unconscious and raped her at his Scottsdale home in 2013, the woman claims in court.

The 26-year-old plaintiff sued Beasley and Juliano Francisco Perez on Monday in Federal Court, alleging sexual assault, battery, and false imprisonment.

She claims that after she and a friend went to Beasley's house in Scottsdale on Jan. 13, 2013, Beasley and Perez "physically overpowered, restrained, fondled, grabbed and groped (the plaintiff), stripped her clothing from her, repeatedly choked her into unconsciousness, and repeatedly sexually assaulted and raped her."

She claims she suffered "physical pain and bodily injury, including suffocation, loss of consciousness, bruising, and trauma to her vagina and anus sufficient to cause bruising, tissue tearing, and bleeding."

She also suffered fear, embarrassment, and anxiety.

Beasley, who now plays for the Chinese Basketball Association's Shanghai Sharks, played for the Suns during the 2012-2013 season. He was released by the Suns after he was arrested in September 2013 for suspicion of marijuana possession.

The plaintiff seeks actual, general, and compensatory damages. She is represented by Craig Knapp of Knapp & Roberts in Scottsdale.
