DADE CITY, FLA. (CN) - A Verizon Wireless supervisor illegally provided a customer's husband with her cell phone records, invading her privacy and precipitating a divorce, a woman claims in Pasco County Court.
Corinne Stackton claims Verizon and its supervisor, Carissa Roldan, violated her privacy by acceding to her husband's requests for her phone records. Stackton says her husband made the request through a neighbor, who is Roldan's mother.
"After obtaining the phone records from Carissa, Plaintiff's husband used the information he found within the records to assume that the Plaintiff was having an affair; however, the Plaintiff was not having an affair," the complaint states.
"The divulgence of this protected personal information was directly responsible for the Plaintiff's husband's decision to file for divorce from the Plaintiff, a decision which was made immediately after the phone records were obtained by the Plaintiff's husband."
Stackton says the two children of her 15-year marriage now will be "raised in a divorced home."
She demands punitive damages for privacy invasion and negligence. She is represented by Michael Massey of Gainesville.
