MANHATTAN (CN) - One of the operators of the Emperors Club VIP prostitution ring, whose services led to the downfall of Gov. Eliot Spitzer, pleaded guilty to federal conspiracy and money laundering charges Wednesday.
Temeka Rachelle Lewis, 32, of Brooklyn, faces up to 5 years in prison for prostitution conspiracy and 20 years for money laundering at her Aug. 6 sentencing, the U.S. Attorney's Office said.
Lewis apparently booked Eliot Spitzer for the date that would end his governorship. The information does not name names, but Lewis admitted she arranged for a prostitute to travel from New York to Washington, D.C., to meet a man in a hotel room, and laundered money make it appear as if it were a payment to a consulting company.
