Widow Says Water Gun Killed Husband

TAMPA (CN) - A widow claims that the waterblast gun her husband used as a waterblast cleaner had been modified so that its "dead-man" switch was removed or inoperable. She says her husband dropped it and its 9,500-psi water blast severed his femoral artery and he bled to death.

Lisa Williams sued Gaffin Industrial Services, PCS Phosphate Co., and JetStream of Houston, a subsidiary of Federal Signal Corp., in Hillsborough County Court. She says JetStream made the gun and Gaffin bought it and modified it.

She is represented by William Hutchinson Jr. of Fort Lauderdale.
