Widow Says Drunken Blackwater Guard|Killed Her Husband ‘For No Reason’

SAN DIEGO (CN) - A drunken Blackwater Security worker shot to death "for no reason" a man who was protecting the vice president of Iraq, and Blackwater tried to cover it up by whisking the assassin out of the country, "bribing an Iraqi government official, and destroying documents and other evidence relating to this and other Xe-Blackwater shootings," the dead man's wife and daughter say in Federal Court. Blackwater, which gained notoriety after repeated killings in Iraq, is now known as Xe.

The wife and daughter of Raheem Khalaf Sa'adoon demand damages for war crimes, wrongful death, assault and battery, distress, negligence and tortious spoliation of evidence.

Sa'adoon was 32 years old when he was killed on Christmas Eve 2006. His family says he was killed by "a highly intoxicated and heavily armed Xe-Blackwater employee named Andrew Moonen ... for no reason. Although Xe-Blackwater learned of their employee's crime shortly after it occurred, Xe-Blackwater acted, and continues to act, in conspiracy with Moonen, to evade any accountability whatsoever. Xe-Blackwater's bad acts include, among other things, spiriting Moonen out of Iraq immediately after the murder, bribing an Iraqi government official, and destroying documents and other evidence relating to this and other Xe-Blackwater shootings."

Sa'adoon's family also sued Eric Prince, the head of Xe-Blackwater.

Here are the defendants: Xe, formerly known as Blackwater Worldwide and Blackwater Lodge And Training Center Inc., Falcon, Blackwater Security Consulting LLC, Blackwater Armor And Targets LLC, Blackwater Airships LLC, Blackwater Logistics LLC, Raven Development Group LLC, Greystone Limited Total Intelligence Solutions LLC, The Prince Group LLC, EP Investments LLC, Erik Prince, and Andrew Moonen.

The Sa'adoons are represented by Joseph Oliva of San Diego and the Burke O'Neil law office of Washington, D.C.
