KANSAS CITY, MO. (CN) - A white man sued the owners and operators of the Westport Plaza Condominiums in Kansas City, claiming they evicted him because he invited a black friend and her child to visit him. "We are not going to have a black woman with a black baby on my property," the manager told him, according to the complaint.
Robert Cudney sued Mark Coco and Phoenix Properties in Jackson County Court. He says Coco made the racist statements to him, including, "It is bad for business with people 'like that' on my property."
Cudney says he was "told that he had to vacate the premises" because he was visited by the black woman and her child.
He demands damages for the expense of moving, and punitive damages. He is represented by Water Simpson.
